Front Differential Damage

I am thinking about buying a 1993 Jeep Wrangler, have'nt seen it, but by phone was advised that jeep had been towed while front end was still on the ground causing the front differential to no longer work. (No 4 wheel engagement). Must the entire front end be replaced or just the differential. Would it not have caused damage to the rear differential also. Estimated cost of replacing front differential and is it easy to find one to fit a 93 model. What years are interchangeable? I have worked on regular vehicles before but have no experence with Jeeps. Buying for kids, please help....

Re: Front Differential Damage

Dood, you sound WAY confused!!! A Jeep, atleast a stock one, only has ONE transfer case. No front or rear, just a single one in the middle.

Re: Front Differential Damage

Also, the YJ has a disconnect front axle so if it was flat towed, the front driveshaft would NOT turn, only the spider gears. The inner passenger side axle shaft would have been rotating backward. I think you need to get more info, either you or the seller is VERY confused.
