OT - Electric Trolling Motor Battery Question

I have an electric trolling motor for my 12 ft. boat . I need to get a new battery for it and was wondering if it would be smarter to get 2 - 6 volt batteries and run them in series or 1 good 12 volt deep cycle type ? We used to use 2 - 6`s in the race car and it whirled that 454 over like nothing , but this is a case of endurance with that trolling motor . Thanks for any opinions guys

Fish On !!

Re: OT - Electric Trolling Motor Battery Question

One 12 volt would be best... less wiring and connections to corrode...

Re: OT - Electric Trolling Motor Battery Question

agreed, one is better then two, less to waary about.

I would definetly get a deep cycle marine battery though.

Re: OT - Electric Trolling Motor Battery Question

Batteries are made up of 1.5 volt cells. A 6 volt has 4 cells and a 12 volt has 8 cells. It just depends on if you want them in one case or two.

Re: OT - Electric Trolling Motor Battery Question

I havent had a fishing rig in a while, BUT the last time I bought a troller batter y, I spent $65 on a GNB action pack deep cycle marine battery, and it lasted for about 8 years.

115 AH, it would run a little Minn Kota all day long easily.
