Will ABS ready axle shafts fit non-ABS D30 ?

I ordered a set of replacement axle shafts for my '91 non-ABS D30. These came with the larger 297x u-joints but the driver side stub shaft has the ABS tone ring on it. The pass. side doesn't. Can I use the driver side one the way it is or do I have to exchange it? The tone ring seems to be pressed on. Can I just pull it off and be done with it?

Thanks,
The lowranger Kutyafal

Yes, it will fit. You can also remove the tone ring and have it fit that way as well. I just replaced my joints yesterday and compared them with another guy doing his non-ABS axles as well.

Re: Will ABS ready axle shafts fit non-ABS D30 ?

Good job, great upgrade. Yes the abs will work with non abs axles. The d-30's are all the same in all the part,s except the brakes. in, I think, 1997 the hub diameter increased so the earlier rotors won't fit. I bought the new hub and rotor and they worked on my 87's caliper and knuckle. If you have an older XJ and want to have more options get newer rotors, then if you need a new hub the new and old will work with them.
