CJ5 Driveshaft

I am looking for a rear drive shaft with a cv or double cardon joint that is compatable with a 77 cj5. I can have it shortened. Is there any Jeeps or other vehicle(Early or later model) that are the same size U -joint. I know I can buy new but its not as much fun and way to expensive.

Re: CJ5 Driveshaft

I used a front driveshaft out of an 89 jeep cherokee. It is the CV style but you'll need
a different yoke for your dana 20 transfer case. The part number is 244061X. You
can pick this up from 4wd hardware or the drivetrain shop that shortens your shaft.
This yoke fits the ten spline shaft in the case. I've been running this shaft in my CJ7
for about two years without a problem. Best part..$100 for everything!

Re: CJ5 Driveshaft

Make sure you pull the nut off the output yoke on your t-case and count the splines. My '76 CJ5 had 26 spline output on it. CV style yoke = Spicer # 244341. Just make sure as D20 t-cases used both 10 and 26 spline depending on model year.
