Full size 44 front ?s

I have enough parts layin around that I figured I would start building me an early CJ5 or a 3b, I have a couple of J truck axles, front is 44 from a 79, rear is 60 semi floating 35 spline with 5 lug pattern from a 72 J400
Is there any way these axles will work without narrowing them, Im kind of on a budget (how much does that cost anyway?) and I was wondering if you could use wheels with a lot of backspacing to make up for a little of the width difference, I know they would still stick out of the fenders, but would it be WAYY to much even with the extra backspacing?
Thanks

BTW......there is a Jeeper in Harrells NC who has a ton of Jeep J-truck stuff and he is looking for a nice home for it. It should be quite inexpensive. Maybe there's a "budget" rig in there somewhere.
