304 to 360 flywheel update

well i got back from precision balancing the verdict from them was that the two flywheels were so close that the difference could be just the differences that exsist in production tollerances and he said he nearly just tweaked the 304 flywheel to the exact spec as the 360

The crank and rods are the same, just the pistons are different. That's good to know that there is not enough weight difference to worry about.

Re: 304 to 360 flywheel update

that goes against everything Ive ever heard ( or read) from long time AMC engine guys ( hot rodders and Jeep folk)

Ive had both flywheels I threw the 304 away because it weas cracked, so I wish I could see it again, but Im pretty sure the counter weghts were in vastly differnt positions.

Its for me to see how that could be close enough.

IM not trying to dispute your source!
Im just trying to figure out why Ive always heard they were differnt if they are so cose they could be used as the same.

Id like to know the specs, runout, balance weights, and such that the factory AND the shop uses to make such a claim.
