? about gears

I found a D44 rear with 4.30 gears or 4.27 gears in it I am now looking for a D44 frount and am wondering how low of a gear ratio I need to go in order to use the carrier and put 4.27's on it! If I find a couple of axles I would rather pick the one with a carrier I can use!

Part 2 how low of a gear can I go before brakeage is of concern with 36's ,locked and a 350 with t350 auto?

Re: ? about gears

4;27 gears were popular with the early waggies. You could always take another rear carrier and gears out of another rear dif and use that in the front.
