would engine vacuum be powerfull enough for ARB ?

I have an arb for the wifes tj..I'd put it in for an upcomming run, but I really dont have the time/$$$ to get OBA in her jeep right now. Could I run some air line in and use a switch from a quadratrac jeep tapped off the power brake booster to run the arb?

That's pretty far fetched, Chris ...

I have heard that in a pinch you can use a small electric tire inflator pump though. I guess it would be easy to set up a regulator on one so you didn't blow the ARBs seals.

I would think that running a vacuum line off the power booster will do a great job of providing enough vacuum to keep the locker disengaged.

I was under the impression that ARBs took positive air pressure, not negative air pressure (vaccuum). If vaccuum can be used, just grab a vaccuum pump from a late model Ford PS. I think they're $75-100 new.

yea i agree with Caver Dave....ARB take positive i believ....cuz you can fill your tires with their pump....so if they had a vacuum pump you'd be drainign your tires....

im sure theres other options besides the ARB brand pump...

I've never had my sandwich hooks on an ARB, but I'd think that it wouldn't be too tough to replace the air line with a flex cable, would it? It would be a reasonable fix until you can get around to OBA.

Re: would engine vacuum be powerfull enough for ARB ?

I guess I don't get it either. The ARB is a "spring open" and "air shut" locker.
How would vacuum fit into the picture?

Re: would engine vacuum be powerfull enough for AR

You need at least 60 pounds of pressure to engage an ARB, not vacuum. This pretty much eliminates an air pump which might put out 5-10 psi depending on back pressure.
