My new CJ2A finally came - But what year is it ??

Well my Xmas present finally came this past week. I got a deal on this thing for $250. Sight-unseen. A friend of mine knew about it and the guy would only sell it to him so this was a totally blind buy. Oh boy, I never knew someone would let a jeep get this bad. The guy covered the rust spots with fiberglass and now there are no seams between the fender and he even glassed the windshield in place. Iíve seen the Build your Own body and it looks pretty easy. I have no clue what year it is so Iím wondering were can I find the serial number and a reference chart.

I'll post some EYE open PIC's this week.

Chassis serial numbers are on a plate located on the outside of left frame side rail at front end, or on the dash panel or at the upper right corner under hood.

1945...Start 10001...End 11824
1946...Start 11825...End 83379
1947...Start 83380...End 148458
1948...Start 148459...End 222581
1949...Start 222582...End 224764

Re: My new CJ2A finally came - But what year is it ??

After building several makes and models of Jeeps for friends and customers, I finally bought my own-A '48 CJ2A! I gaurantee it will become your favorite! These things are a blast to work on, wheel in, and generally enjoy. A couple words.....DO THE DISC BRAKE CONVERSION!!! Hands down the best mod you can do to these. It is simple, cheap, and makes it safer. Safer = more fun. Check out http://jeepresource.com/model/willys.html
Enjoy! Lets see some pics!!!
