Putting a 4.0 injection on a 4.2

Hello friends.
I am dabbling with 2 ideas in my head. One is putting the Waggie insides in my wrangler(360, dana 44's, TF727) and the other idea is putting my 4.0 MPFI on my 4.2. Obviously the waggie swap will be more expensive. HAs anyone done the swap directly from a Cherokee 4.0 onto a YJ 4.2? I already have the engine, but want to know if this is doable without buying the $1800 Mopar FI kit..
Thanks Again.

I personally don't see why this couldn't be done. I asked some similar things earlier in the year and got squat back from everyone. I do believe the 4.0 intake manifold won't bolt up to the 4.2 head. So you might wanna swap a 4.0 head on that sucker.

I have heard that you need to change the bell housing. Some crank position sensor is in there, or some thing. I think with the retro fit kit the crank position sensor thingy is on that special harmonic damper that they make you buy separately.

Yeah, he'd have to get the special vibration dampner and sensor.

Neither of you guys have been paying attention, I guess, since it's been discussed here plenty of times.
First of all, what year 4.0?
If it's pre - 1991 ... forget about it ...

Re: Putting a 4.0 injection on a 4.2

The 1987-90 Wrangler 4.0 had the Renix FI system.
Better than a carb, yes, but no way near the 1991+ MPFI.
Plus, the pre-1991 4.0 head has no improvment over their earlier CJ cousins.
No hi port, no HO, no nada.

In my country, the 87-90 wrangler has a 4.2L. with Carter computerized carburetor.
