Your hotter spark just means more voltage, nothing to do with heat range of a plug. More voltage is a good thing, cleaner, more thorough combustion. The heat range of a plug is about its ability to dissipate heat, a hotter plug doesn't dissipate heat as well, keeping more of the heat in your head.
