Re: Jeep EVO game problems

Try this...

Open up the shortcut and see if the "Start in:" box has a MSDOS path name in it (drive letter:\Jeep 4x~ type thing). If so change it to "drive letter:\Jeep 4x4 Evo2" (don't forget the quotes) or whatever the "Target:" box has for a path...

It was causing the program (in OpenGL) to start, change the refresh rate on the monitor, and then drop down to the taskbar on my unit (XP)...

Just a thought...

Re: Jeep EVO game problems

4x4 evo 2 is a really picky game.. you ahve to have dirx 8 or above and 64 meg vid ram to make it run smooth.

i have 400 pent, 600+ ram, egeforce 2 64 meg ram, and it runs smooth as a babys bottom even with everything turned on and all the way up.

The vid card is all the muscle you need, and dirx 8+ or the latest in open GL (I stay away from that though).

Re: Jeep EVO game problems

For those of you that have the game working, any idea what the second big red X is for on the Silverton trail after you winch out the log truck? I know you are supposed to winch the truck to the first one, but what about the second? Are you suposed to winch the pile of logs to that spot?
Sorta a cool game. Not nearly enough throttle contol though...I always end up plowing into stuff.

Re: Jeep EVO game problems

Yep, you got it. You have to winch the logs into the X. It's a little tricky. First time I did it, it went great. But my second attempt took forever! Also, anyone know of the second rescue thing on the Jeep 101 course? There's suppose to be a spot where you help a hiker. I'm just hoping you'd get something kewl out of it, like the winch for the fire.

Re: Jeep EVO game problems

I got it to work, but I havn't gotten time to play that much... How do you tell the ranger station about the fire?

I have a wheel, and it is very easy to keep the throttle where you want it, and the wheel and pedals cost me 20$.

I have alot of exp playing evo 2 full version. You should get it if you really like this jeep game, and its fairly cheap.

Hope we can trade secrets here.. help each other win the RE edition...

Re: Jeep EVO game problems

To tell the Ranger Station about the fire, just turn around and drive back to it. Once you pass by it, it will automatically alert the station.

Thank's for the tip on the logs and the second big X.
I haven't found the stranded hiker yet either.

I'll have to hook up my old wheel and try it with that.

Re: Jeep EVO game problems

Re: Jeep EVO game problems

Okay, I turned it on today and it sees my video card. It works awesome now, even with all the graphic options on. Don't know what the deal was yesterday. Got 31,xxx pts on my 2nd try. Is that good? Oh well. Now, time to win a Rubicon! lol

Re: Jeep EVO game problems

ok, so what's the trick to getting a high score in the game?
I can't top 35000 on the Silverton trail. I've rescued the log truck, moved all 5 of the logs and finished it all in about 5 minutes and my score is nowhere near the 53000 points that are on the leaderboard. How are they getting scores that high?

Re: Jeep EVO game problems

I got it to run (on openGL) but it is so SLOW that I can't do anything with it. My machine sure isn't a slouch, either. That, and I'm running the latest DirectX 8.1 updates, and cannot get it to work without running it on opengl. But with the speed that the screens load at, it si so frustrating--I cannot even get the game started, it takes too long!!!
