Re: Cap & Rotor Upgrade For 4.0 Liter Guys

OK...
I just walked into Advance Auto and asked for the parts specified...
What I got was the part numbers for the With Out E.E.C., but I'm lucky, the guys here Immediately reconigized that the parts were wrong, and hunted down the correct parts...

Here are the Advance Auto P/N
Rotor FR 134 ($2.99) '85-'97 Ford trucks with V-8 & E.E.C..
Cap FR 123 ($8.89) '82-'96 Ford trucks with I-6 & EEC.
This is the cheap aluminum terminal cap, the brass cap is like FR 123BR or something, I was in a hurry and didn't pay too much attention. Sorry.
Cap Adaptor FR 138 '82-'96 with I-6 & E.E.C..

I'll stop at Auto Zone & NAPA for part numbers the next time I'm out goofing off...

Re: Cap & Rotor Upgrade For 4.0 Liter Guys

I have some more P/N's (posted below) I'm pretty sure they are correct. It turns out that there are 2 differant distributors in 95. One like in the picture and one with a rotor thats keyed onto the shaft. If you have the one in the picture, your fine. If you have the one that I have, it looks as though your out of luck. Although I'm going to see if the other style distributor will work in my truck. On another note I'm not sure if the cap and adapter will hit the A/C hoses off the back of the compressor when you try to install this upgrade. One last thing, TR, how far away should the rotor nose be from the terminal on the cap? I know the closer the better. My stock rotor(the only one that fits my dist. Damn) is about 3/4 of an inch from the upgraded cap terminals. I'm sure thats way to far right?

Napa/ Echlin
Adapter-FA146
Cap-FA145
Rotor-FA152(I'm not 100% on this one)

Standard
Adapter-FD166
Rotor-FD307

Borg Warner
Adapter-C241
Rotor-D214P

Wells
Adapter-F976
Rotor-F981

Re: Cap & Rotor Upgrade For 4.0 Liter Guys

3/4" is WAY TOO MUCH!
That's a gap of 0.750"!!!!

ONCE AGAIN...
You need a V-8 rotor to make the thing work....

Re: Cap & Rotor Upgrade For 4.0 Liter Guys

I realize that. I was just kidding about trying to make it work with the 3/4" gap. Thats why I can't do the upgrade. My distributor is the model that won't accept the V-8 rotor. But at least it will get done on my dads 92. Thanks for all the help in finally figuring this all out. I hope you add this info to your website once it's up and running.
