Is there an inner pinion oil slinger on a dana 44?

Every exploded diagram I've seen of the dana 44 doesn't show an inner oil slinger behind the inner pinion bearing. In my kit
there are two oil slingers....one looks like an inner and the other an outer. I don't have another dana 44 to compare to because
the one I got didnt' have any gears in it.

Thanks!

All the exploded views I have show one between the outer pinion bearing and the oil seal. It is only there to help the seal keep oil in; there shouldn't be any other slingers.

Re: Is there an inner pinion oil slinger on a dana 44?

I just went through the same thing. Seems like all rear 44's only have a small oil slinger just before the rear oil seal. On my front 44 wagoner it has a bigger slinger right after the pinion gear then the pinion dept bearing. I quess the front needs to redirect the oil from the seal since its points in the other direction. I hope that helps

It depends on the D44. My D44 has an inner slinger and outer baffle and so does my D60. The D60 for example had three different slinger configurations, im not sure how many the D44 has.

I've just finished a Detroit and 5.38 gears in a 76 Chevy D44 Front housing. It had/has the large slinger between the pinion gear and inner bearing.
