Need info, Tire carrier Hinge.

Okie, so I just went and bought my trailer spindle (axle).

And when I got it ($30) CDN. I realised I have no clue how to do this...

Does anyone have DIAGRAMS, PICTURES, INSTRUCTIONS. or anything that details this? I'm so freaken clueless about what to do with it right now...

I keep hiding the damn thing cause every time I look at it I feel like I just chucked $30 down the toilet..

Anyone.. Please.. I know most of you guys have done this before...

Re: Need info, Tire carrier Hinge.

Alright, i cant find the website that the pic is at but ill describe it. you get the axle stub and the bearings and races that fit on it. Then if you dont wanna buy the hub, i got some tubing that the races fit in perfectly, then i got another tube that went inside the previous tube to keep the bearings from moving around and kept them pressed up tight against the flair in the bottom of the stub and the nut on the top of the stub. I welded these 2 tubes together by drilling the outside tube and welding it to the inside. I drilled and tapped one side for a zerk fitting. Thats basically it.

Re: Need info, Tire carrier Hinge.

I believe someone posted this link a little while back, I just can't remember who. I saved it in my favorites because I think this is the way I plan to go. I'm sure you can work your spindle in for the hinge.

You'll need adobe acrobat to read them.

Re: Need info, Tire carrier Hinge.

I ran across Christo Slee's "Slee Off Road" site on the net a couple of years ago when searching for a twin stick modification for my D300.

See http://pjb.dyndns.org/christo.html

While I was there, I saw the article on the spare tire carrier.

I've replaced so many parts that my old Jeep has become my new Jeep.
