How do you attach a photo so it shows?

When I attach a photo, it just shows the link. Some of ya'll have the picture right there when the thread is opened. How do you do that?

do your normal post stuff, then click the add attachment box and add your picture. once it has been posted go into your post and click on you picture attachment and copy the location in the address bar then go back and click on edit post, and type image] your address pasted here [/image]

hope that helps probally not but hey I tried
