fairlead, where do I mount it??

Hey all once again

I got my front bumper pretty well made it's all tacked together, I'm just wondering where's the best place to mount the winch fairlead? on the front of the bumper or behind it attached to the winch? here's a pic of what my bumper looks like. Any other input is welcome as always!
Thanks ahead
Chad

Re: fairlead, where do I mount it??

I wondered about this once when I wanted to mount a winch in the bed of my old truck, I asked Warn about it and they suggested mounting the Fairlead to another piece of still in front of the winch and not directly to it, reason being if you need to do some off-angle winching and it gets nasty it can or will bend the frame of the winch. The farther from the winch you can get the fairlead, the more effective it is. The distance makes it easier for the cable to slip off the previous lay and start back the other way when it's at the end of the drum. Just give it some protection; you don't want to be using it as your bumper.

I might have been born at night, but it wasn't LAST night.
