Re: winch mounting

Can some people show the pics of their winch mount setups?
how can you do it with out a "winch mount bumper", just a rock crawler style?

Re: winch mounting

Here's mine. It's basically a wide "H" of 1/4" cold rolled that straddles the frame rails. A heavy angle is bolted across the front and provides most of the strength support for the winch. A vertical piece of 1/4" locates the back of the winch. Gussets under the angle provide side-pull strength.

I built it in a short afternoon about 15 years ago and it hasn't missed a beat since. As you can see, it's had a hard life, but it's strong enough to pop a 5/16" cable, which it's done several times. The snowplow mount will come off in a few weeks. Then I can get a better picture.

I might have been born at night, but it wasn't LAST night.
