Th400-D20 tcase question - shifts rough.

Hey all,

I have an 84Cj7. 305 Chevy, TH400, B&M Shift kit, D20 Tcase. My question is.. When in 4wd and I shift (floor shifter) its really rough. Lets just say if you were standing on the hood while I shifted my jeep you would be standing for long...

Once I put it in 2wd, it shifts smooth again.

I have only wheeled my jeep a few times with this drivetrain. I don't recall (its been a while) whether or not it did this when I first put it in.

Any suggestions? Comments? Thanks.

Re: Th400-D20 tcase question - shifts rough.

Nothing too constructive to add...but a question--does it do it with the front hubs unlocked? On all surfaces? Have you used teh D20 on something else or serviced it lately? I've gotta think there's either a lot of freeplay in the t-case, or alternatively, a lot of binding. But that is admittedly a total guess. With the tranny in park, can you turn the driveshafts at all?

I Jeep, therefore I am.
