oil pressure

is it a normal thing when you first start a jeep for the oil pressure to be really low and then raise as the engine warms up?

Re: oil pressure

No ,oil pressure usually starts high and drops as engine warms up.May be a bad sender, bad gauge,or a hole in the tube going betweenthem if it is mechanical gauges.

Re: oil pressure

Mine goes all over the place at differnt times! Sometimes it will read 15 psi and others it will read 40! Just depends on how my Jeep feels! Of course I run an electric gauge due to a previous oil bath inside my cab.

My girlfriend said if I spent one more dime on my Jeep she would leave. Man I'm going to miss her!

Re: oil pressure

Is this the stock guage in the Wrangler? How many miles on the motor?

Sometimes the circuit board that feeds the guage cluster gets corrosion on the wire traces and acts screwy. hook up or have someone hook up a mechanical guage and see what is really happening.
