4.0 head Conversion

I almost have my hands on a 4.0L head for my 258. It is from a 97. I know that a 92-95 head will work, is there any difference with the 97? I am about to go pick it up and would like to know before I make the transaction.

A CJ and a TJ.

I think it will work. I'm waiting for a head to be delivered for my swap and it is from a newer Jeep. If you ever want to go fuel injection, you need a pre-'97 computer, but I don't think there is any thing with the head that should be a problem.

My girlfriend said if I spent one more dime on my Jeep she would leave. Man I'm going to miss her!

The 1997 + version should work.
I believe Dorfs said there were some external accessory mount boss changes but that was all.
BTW, I compaired a 1991-95 intake maniflold with one from a 1997 and they were the same casting number and look identical.

Ive read that the newer ones are more desirable, combustion chamber and port wise. I read that Clifford only uses the new castings for their 258's. Brendan
