Re: lexan windshield

Not sure if its legal or not but you wipers would really do a number on it. It may be tough, but it scratches real easy. Thats what some or most sign faces are made out of. But ... you can also flame polish the scratches out too. Maybe some thing to think about

Re: lexan windshield

The Lexan shield in JC Whitney is not DOT legal - but then again, what cop is going to check the window for the DOT etching?

And no, your wipers will not scratch it. It's different Lexan than what signs are made of, as well as having a special coating.

Unless you're looking to save weight, I'd stick with glass. It's cheaper ($100 as opposed to $300) if you break it.

I'm boycotting sigs. If ya wanna see what I have, check my profile.

Re: lexan windshield

Illnois state troopers will check the windshields...
We had 21" wide DOT approved tires, the rear bumper was within 2" of the stock height, the windshield wipers worked (by hand, but they worked), the exhaust exited the vehicle (although in front of the rear tires), our headlights were properly adjusted, ect. ect....

Northern Illinois cops are total *****s, and they HATE hot rodders...

He wrote us for the lexan windshield (not DOT approved 'Safety Plate') and a set of Factory sport lights that did not have covers or amber bulbs...
(the law IN MOST STATES reads, one set of primary driving lights 'low beams', one set of secondary driving lights 'high beams' and one set of Axillary amber 'fog' lights. Anything else is illegal.)
$186.50 to the Sangamon county seat, and $102.00 to the city of Springfield Ill.

I haven't spent another penny in Nothern Illinois since. I figure until they raise the speed limit for trucks to 70 and stop being *****s, I'll just keep my money in my pocket.

Southern Ill. (at the car shows) the cops will stop traffic just so they can check out your cars!
Unless you are just a total dumbass, they won't bother you at all.

So many cats, so few recipes...
