I\'m Going to the Darkside w/pic

Hopefully everyone won't kick me off for this but..... My wife and I are buying a 1993 (gulp) Toyota Land Cruiser, it's loaded, coil sprung, electrical locking front/rear diffs, locking center. Getting from original owner with ALL dealer maintenance done. I still have the CJ (which is getting finished with 4.0L swap this summer) but we need something we can fit in a travel with baby, I'm 6'4" and my wife is 5'11" we don't fit easily in smaller vehicles, If I can talk her in to making it look like the pic!!! thats 35" tires!

I can't fault you for that, if I could afford one I would buy one myself. There is nothing wrong with a family hauler that is off-road capable.

the one in that pic is really nice. Sounds like your new "toy" is going to be a fun rig to have. Good for moving a family around. "boy I'm glad I don't have one of those yet" Fam that is, not the toy

Re: I\'m Going to the Darkside w/pic

The cruiser is really nice, it was a Female Dr.'s car. They just put brand new Michellins on (16" wheels, I think 31" tires) Leather, sunroof, CD, cass, 9 speakers, 3rd seat, immaculate shape and nothing has ever gone wrong, like I said all dealer services at correct mileage, it has 128K on it. The 4.5L engine is very powerful dual cams 213 HP, Coils, high pinion axles, lockers, 4.11's, I'm hoping she'll get sick of it soon so I can steal it for another toy! The sticker price makes you sick, new they are starting at 53K!!!! In 93 they were 38K and up!!! NADA retail is 16,100! I'm getting it quite a bit cheaper than that!

The blue LC in the pic looks remarkably like one I saw at DR this year. The driver was a young UT(n)student and wasn't having too rough a time at Tellico. I've always been a fan of LCs, just never enough cash to OWN one.

That sounds like a really really nice new truck. That was a good find.

Re: I\'m Going to the Darkside w/pic

The only problem you may see is what I experienced back when I had my Disco. Capable offroad vehicles, but paint and body damage become a LOT more relevant to you as the owner/driver. It can make offroading somewhat less enjoyable when you aren't willing to thrash your stuff, or get upset if it happens by accident.

Re: I\'m Going to the Darkside w/pic

We're pretty happy about getting it. The lockers are factory, here's a pic of the control. I'm gonna wait a year or two before the 35's!! Although the old man emu lift $650 will allow clearance!
