A Friend Is Giving me his scout!!

A friend of mine told me today that he will give me his scout. I dont know what year it is (ill find out), but Im thinking I should build up everything on my jeep before I take off the running stuff. What all can I do before having to take apart my (currently running well!) jeep?

Maybe you should think this out for a while. What parts from the Scout are you going to use? Don't take the Jeep apart yet. I would bring the Scount home and indentify what parts you are going to use on the Jeep. Then take the parts off, service or rebuild them and trade them to Jeep one at a time.

All I can think of that you would (maybe) want from the Scout is the Dana 44 front end, if that's what it has. Your '72 already has a D-44 in the rear (right?) so Don't go tearing your Jeep apart just yet. take your time and figure out what you want to do with it. Maybe just parting out the Scout would bring in enough cash to do some other mod's to the Jeep that you need worse than IH parts. just a thought.
