AUTO CJ NO REVERSE, WHY?

Have an 85 Cj7 with a 727 or 777 and will only go into reverse when it heats up. Will drive for 2-3 miles with no rev. but after that it works fine. Drives fine and shifts all gears o.k. Any Help????

Re: AUTO CJ NO REVERSE, WHY?

is the fluid at the proper level?

when the last time the filter and fluid were changed?

Tfs are notorious for having a LAG going into Reverse, I think it becuase they dont pump fluid thru the converter in Park, only Nuetral.

try this, next time you shut it off, leave it in N, then crank it in N, and see if it takes the same amount of time to finally make reverse.

it definantly sounds like a fluid flow problem, RnR that filter, see what that changes
