Re: Which Tires

They don't have (acording to people) as thick of side walls as BFG's at least the AT don't. Besides that they are good.

Look in to Sport Kings, they are less expensive and very good ware out of them.

Re: Which Tires

The Pro-Comps are a very good tire. However, if compared to the BFG's, the BFG wins by have 3 ply sidewalls compared to 2 for the Pro Comp. I have also managed to put a hole in the side of one of my BFG's...thank god for the hazard warranty...the tire had less than 150 miles on it.

I'm getting ready to install Pro-Comps on the wifes Cherokee...considering the cost difference and that it's a daily driver, weekend gently off-roader...I think it will be fine..(she is pregnant and does not plan on finding all the big rocks).

Re: Which Tires

MY CHOICE WOULD BE THE NEW BFG MUD TERRAIN IF GOING OFF ROAD.

Re: Which Tires

I'm going BFG Mud Terrain KMs in 33x10.50 this spring--unless I get a killer deal on some interco Special Service in 34x9.50!

If you are looking to save money over the BFGs, look into Hankooks. I have a set of T34s on my daily driver (Ford Ranger) that have served long and well. The new tread design is a knock off of the BFG/Procomp style. I've used Hankooks on my wife's cars for years as well.

If you are not planning on lots of mudding, look into the Goodyear Workhorse Extra Grip. I run them studded as a winter tire on the Ranger, but they aren't bad in the mud and are a good all-around tire. They don't look the coolest, but I'm not into looks (I'll post a pic of my jeep if you don't believe me!). They also wear like iron. The construction outfit my dad works for started running them shortly after I bought my first set and have had great luck with them.

It's all a state of mind, and if you don't mention the state of my mind, I'll be happy to overlook yours!

Re: Which Tires

Spaz wheel you yj some more before you get tires, right now you still have a street jeep, decide if you will actually wheel, not get into the wheeling spot, freak and decide it's time to go home when we have maybe covered 200' of trails. If you really want to wheel get some descent muds and you don't need wheels especially if you are going with 30's, though i say come on over and make a 1" body lift and 1" lift shackles and some 31's. For you i'd even say swampers since you only drive about 2 miles a day (is school even that far away from your house??), they would last for years and "look cool".
