kinda O/T: If you weren\'t building a Jeep...

Just out of curiosity, if you folks were building a Jeep what rig would you want to build up as a trail rig.

If I were playin with something else it'd be either a solid axle Toyota pickup or an Early Bronco.

Re: kinda O/T: If you weren\'t building a Jeep...

I`d like to do up a 69 - 72 Chevy Blazer . Had a 69 once with 350 / SM?? with granny low and a 6 " lift with 35`s . Man I loved that rig , could go just about any where and the full top came off . Too kewl ! I miss that thing .

Re: kinda O/T: If you weren\'t building a Jeep...

There are far too many choices for capable 4x4 platforms out there to narrow it to just one. But if I had to, I'd say a Scout. I'd want to paint it black and paint death's head symbols on the hood and panels and name it "International Harvester of Sorrow." Ok, well, maybe not the paint part.

Re: kinda O/T: If you weren\'t building a Jeep...

lifts for these ifs toys are high $$$, although itll fit 31s stock, and 33s with some trim.
they dont flex worth a crap!
the pic was taken after wheeling with WILL, and I got a front tire off the ground every time I climbed a hill!

I bought it in sept, ive driven it every day since, and its stone cold reliable, everyting works, and it gets 22.5 MPG in the city.

Ive actually sort of been looking for another to make a toy out of, althought wife frowns on that idea.

Re: kinda O/T: If you weren\'t building a Jeep...

I wouldn't build an certain vehicle. I would start from scratch. 5 ton rockwell axles, turbo diesel, 6spd gear box, coil over shocks, 12 point cage, at least 38 inch tires (probably 44s), two winches over 9500 lbs, 5 point harnesses, comfortable seats, many spare parts, and something that resembles a body with no overhangs. Simple and way overbuilt.
