What kind of YJ?

Where can I find what kind of YJ i have. I've seen this:

1990 Jeep Wrangler 2 Dr Islander 4WD Utility
1990 Jeep Wrangler 2 Dr Laredo 4WD Utility
1990 Jeep Wrangler 2 Dr S 4WD Utility
1990 Jeep Wrangler 2 Dr STD 4WD Utility
1990 Jeep Wrangler 2 Dr Sahara 4WD Utility

How can I find which I have? I'm sure the vin# holds the answer to this mystery, but is there somewhere I can do a search to find out?

thanks.

Re: What kind of YJ?

The easiest way is call the VIN # in to the dealership.

Re: What kind of YJ?

Laredo would say Laredo on it somewhere. If you are using the stock stereo, I believe you can use that to find some more information out. Color schemes also tell these answers.. But, thats assuming this is a perfect world.

Re: What kind of YJ?

The islander would have a picture of a sun and some pistripeing through it. The sun is usually orange. Laredo would be said some where on the rig and standard would probably not have a backseat or maybe no carpet in back, s would have a backseat with probably a 5spd and a straight 6. If I remember right.

Well it didn't look THAT deep! Hold on I'll tow you out I'll get my jeep only strap.

Re: What kind of YJ?

If it has only the driver side mirror on it it's an 'S' model like mine, bone stock, no power stearing, no AC

Re: What kind of YJ?

the 6th digit indicates the series.. 1=S(YJ) 2=Base 4=Sahara 5=Laredo 6=Renegade there is no 3 according to my chiltons. I'll try and scan the entire string for you, but its pretty small print, and i doubt i can fit it on this board. if you want it let me know and i'll email it to you.
