Warn M15000? Any Opinons?

Ok, I know this winch is big and slow, but I would think that because It has a much higher load capacity, it would be less likely to fry under the same amount of pressure a XD9000 might... Any opinions?

About twice the weight. If you are that worried about frying a XD9000, just add a snatch block. Spend that extra money on something else.

A real good solid setup would be the tried and true 8274-50 and a good recovery kit.

I remember reading about studies that the wire rope used on some Warn wiches wasn't up to the capicity of the winch. So you might want to consider replacing it.

A 8274-50, good recovery kit, and replacement rope is about the ulitmate setup in my opinion, for a light wieght jeep.

Now if you were running a custom frame, Rockwell 2 1/2 ton axles, 44" boggers, big blocks, and a NP205....it might be a good option.

Re: Warn M15000? Any Opinons?

Guys, keep in mind that the recent WARN 15K and 12K do not mount the same way the standard winches do. 4 bolts on a 10" x 4.5" bolt pattern, which is standard for winches for the most part, is how most WARN, RASMEY, and SUPERWINCH winches will mount on your jeep. They all will fit the same mount kit, for the most part. There are some exceptions.

The larger WARN 12 and 15 K use a combination mount with 6 bolts, and will not fit most mount kits for the front of a SWB Jeep. I don't even know if you can get a mount kit for these size winches for a SWB. The 12 and 15 are considerably larger than a standard XD9000, for instance. Thicker wire rope, larger diameter drum flanges, etc.

Just something more to look into if you're shopping for these larger winches.

Re: Warn M15000? Any Opinons?

Hey,

I heard that the 15k wasn't much better than the m12000. I have a M12000 on the front of my CJ. I couldn't refuse the deal that I got. And you mention that they are slow? Mine isn't that slow. Its not fast like my xd9000i on my TJ but its still just as fast as my 8274 I have also.

Jersey, did you make the mount kit for your M12000 or can you purchase that from WARN for a CJ?

Thanks,
Pete

Hey, Jersey, are you saying that the XD9000i is FASTER than the 8274?
