Just the little lever inside? They are fairly cheap through NAPA, like $8 if I remember right.

Hmm, I've looked everywhere, and all the parts stores draw a blank, what should I ask for?

Ask for their brake BOOK and look it up yourself. That's usually what I have to do.

Definately ask(demand) the book. If the exact parts arent listed(too old) try Ford, Jeep or Dodge parts for the same diameter and width you now have. Some of those parts don't know what kind of a vehicle they were originally in.

Re: scout 44 brake guts needed

I had the same problem, I checked the junk yards and the parts places and nobody came up with a cross. All the other parts they have a listing for but not the e-brake lever or the cross bar. The parts look like they are standard but until someone comes up with a cross reference your are stuck trying to find a stock replacement.
I called everywhere and the only people who new anything about the scouts were the guys at Light Line of Lousiana.
They sold me a used one for reasonable price, you might try them.
