looks nice, but sure is expensive...
ARBs are about half that... and are more effective if water is going to be splashed onto your hood..

I was thinking about somethinmg like that earlier, but decided against it. You won't be able to flip your hood up all the way, and your windshield can't fold down. Not to mention price to do it, and the small distance it goes to prevent water from entering, the ARB is more effective.. And a little less work if u ask me. It does look cool though. it'd look cooler if inwas closer to the passenger side like a real hummer

What do you do when all your pockets are already emptied?

I'm sure there's a way to make it telescope.
There always is.

I was looking at that design exactly. Thnx.
But, It would take incredible guts to cut a hole that size in the hood.

Carry an extra piece of threaded pipe to make it higher. You could make some quick connect bolts for your windshield frame, then insead of folding it down, just take it off. In case of a rollover or flopping on your side, you won't have to replace your windshield and frame every time. H8 has complained alot about having to replace his frame(I think this is who it was). He probably just needs to take his windhield frame and glass out anyway, if he isn't doing it already. Leve talked about making the mods to windshield frames to do this about 6 months ago. It almost looks like it will clear folded down, now. If you do the ARB snorkle(Safari snorkle) you will never be able to fold down your windshield. Cost of the 2 are about the same.

The hole won't be in your hood, it will be in the cowl(part of the tub), double guts. Make sure that you paint any holes cut with good paint and primer for rust prevention.

Re: Hey guys, how about a Hummer snorkel on yer Jip??

Someone was talking about this kind of thing when the search was down. .well I found the sucker..

It looks like a great mod.
Snorkle with a folding winsheild..
Can do YJason's setup with a threaded pipe if it gets real deep..
best of all after re-reading the article I found that the cowl is removable..
You know what that means? it takes 1/2 as much guts as drilling the holes in your tub for that center console you put in..

I think I might just do it.
