What shocks?

Now that I have my 89 YJ SOA on top of D60/14 bolt with 4" CJ springs, my Skyjacker Nitros (came with 4" kit) are not long enough!! Should I relocate my shockmounts or should I get some bigger/longer/beefier shocks to replace mine and what vehicle should I get them for? I'd like to stick with the Skyjacker shocks but it's not mando...anyone who's had this problem please advise...

thanks!

Re: What shocks?

Hey mob, I have the skyjacker hydros, and I hate them. the bushings keep popping out of the housing, and squeeking over every bump from metal on metal contact, but I have no idea how that could be fixed other than new shocks.I guess the nitros are better, but I'm gonna upgrade to the rancho 9012's. If I were you I'd get longer shocks for that beast. By the way, I got a name for your jeep.. Clifford...... you know, the big red dog in kids books and stuff? I think it fits well

Re: What shocks?

I have been using R9000s for years also.
But I recently tried a set of Bilstein 5100 (Nitrogen Charged with 14.25" of travel, at all 4 corners of the rig, and they are sweet. They kept the tires on the ground, and the steering tracking straighter when used over high speed(30-45mph) bumps(1 1/2' - 2'), and they also felt better blasting on through the sand dunes. They are only about $75. I still like the adjustability of the R9000s, but I would take the Bilsteins 5100 over the R5000s now that I have had the oppurtunity to run them.

Re: What shocks?

daahhh...you didn't say that dummy, lol ...you told me to get some Mcferson struts from an Escort!! No really, I got my clutch fixed and I'm going to drive out to Extreme-Offroad and tell em to hook me up...in the front, with RSs... I still haven't figured out what to do with the rear...I'll get that after I get the exhaust rerouted and mount the ole 18 to my skidplate. One thing at a time!!! Thanks for the inputs fellaz...
