Hinge bolt pattern on 76 vs 79 CJ Hardtop

I have a cj that is a 79 body, but a 76 V8, it also has a hard top that's in good condition. The problem is the liftgate on the rear window that opens and closes. The hinges are gone and the guy before me simply screwed the liftgate to the hardtop using drywall screws. I want to fix it. All the mags sell liftgate hinges, but when I view the bolt pattern on the portion that attaches to the hardtop, they have bolt holes at the 9 & 3 o'clock positions or horizontal from each other. When I look at my hardtop, it has bolts sticking out that are approximately at the 9 & 5 o'clock position. Kinda diagonal and down. Then I noticed that the parts magazines stipulate "not for 76 hardtops". Does anyone have a 76 hardtop they can walk outside and look at it to see if I'm crazy or not? If the 76 is different, where do I get a hinge for the liftgate? Otherwise, I'll have a metal shop make one, but that won't be the same. Thanks.

Re: Hinge bolt pattern on 76 vs 79 CJ Hardtop

My Jeep is a 78, but the hardtop is later - about 81. The hinge bolt pattern is horizontal. Another sign of the age is the door handles; older ones have a twist handle, newer like mine have a pull-latch. Sorry I didn't keep track of the years. Surely somebody on the board knows exact years.
