Re: grand cherokee = SWB ?

The Grand's and Cherokee's are not considered SWB Jeeps, but you are welcome here anyways. Most of us own a ZJ, XJ, or WJ as well as our Short Wheelbase rigs, so you could probably get an answer for any of your questions here.

I'd consider a scrambler or CJ6 a shortwheelbase, too. Whaddabout you guys? Or would that be short-mid-size or long-shortwheelbase?

Re: grand cherokee = SWB ?

Alright! I have one vote from Mel that my Commando is SWB. After all, 104" is the same as a CJ8 (but I had it first ).

Re: grand cherokee = SWB ?

Hey, I figure a CJ6, CJ8/scrambler to be SWB just cause they are REAL Jeeps! *grin* They even look like bigger brothers to CJ5s and CJ7s! Cherokees/Grand Cherokees are "Jeep Brand" (TM, Regisered, copy right and all that stuff by Dailmar-Chrysler) rigs! Great SUVs, and ALMOST a Jeep! *Grin* Just kidding!

Maybe a CJ6 or CJ8 would be considered an "overachiever" SWB!

It's all a state of mind, and if you don't mention the state of my mind, I'll be happy to overlook yours!

Re: grand cherokee = SWB ?

Hmmmm - fine line huh?
Actually the scrambler is 103 1/2" hehe
According to the "illustrated buyers guide" book a pre-1972 commando is 101" WB and 1972-1973 is 104" CaverDave is this true? (believe it or not, I don't own one of these)

Now the XJ is only 101.4" WB - uggh! Where is the line drawn?? Do we need subcategories???

Now I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight stressed out as to the whole Jeep category heiarchy.... then again maybe it's too much kerosene heater fumes...

Re: grand cherokee = SWB ?

This has always been confusing to me..before Sept. 1999, it really didn't matter; all Jeep vehicles were together on one forum. One big happy family. Like any family, there are bound to be differences in taste: who likes square headlights, who likes wagon bodies, who prefers short wheelbases, etc.

Re: grand cherokee = SWB ?

Isn't the GC the modern day equivalent of the Grand Wagoneer?
Are either of those considered SWB?
On the main index here the GC is mid-sized and the GW is full sized.
I don't know what the "classification specs" are for SWB, Mid, or Full, this is just an odd thing I noticed pertaining to this question.
