Rear Seat in a CJ-5

Does anyone know where I can get a top-mount rear seat for a CJ-5. One of my friends just bought one for his CJ-5 and I really like the extra legroom and storage under the seat the top mount allows. I called where he got his from and the guy was all sold out of black ones and he's not going to be able to get anymore.

Top mount? Does it mount to the floor? Wheelwells?, not sure I've ever seen anything other than the fixed or fold-n-tumble seat in CJ-7's and Wranglers.

Sorry I was not clear on the "topmount". The seat mounts to the top of the wheel wells.

Re: Rear Seat in a CJ-5

I called Tedford's Jeep Parts (662)563-9522 today and he said he bought all the seats his supplier had before going out of business. He still has about 15 in stock all of them are tan, spice ad nutmeg so I guess I'll be buying one and dying it black. The seat is supported by a frame that has four tabs to bolt it to the wheel well, it looks to be the same fabric as bestop seats.

I'll be the safety guy, wouldn't that put the passenger's heads above the rollbar? Ok how about running some angle iron or something across from one fender well to the other, then put your seats mounts on that. Seems like it should work without much cost. How about seat belts too? Of course maybe I don't understand exactly.

Re: Rear Seat in a CJ-5

Yeah I think the back seat passengers are pretty much screwed either way. Just wanted to put that out there, I guess maybe kids may be protected. I have seen jeeps in South Georgia with little towers for people to sit in for quail hunting I think. But that was fairly high up.
