Any CJ people, I have a quick question

I have decided to make my own body lift for my 79 cj5 and am about to go to the hardware store to buy the bolts.
I need to know How Many Bolts to Buy and How Long Each Bolt Should be.

I am making a 1 inch body lift so tell me either stock lengths or add one inch please.

thank you very much

Re: Any CJ people, I have a quick question

yank one out and go to a "fastener" type joint and tell them to add whatever. easiest and fastest......

when in doubt.........
empty the magazine.

Re: Any CJ people, I have a quick question

My CJ has eleven body mounts, and if memory serves they were not all the same length bolt. The side body mount bolts were 5/16" by 3 1/2" I think, except for the two front ones, which were an inch longer. The radiator mount was larger in diameter, as were the two in the rear crossmember, 3/8" maybe. These lengths are one inch over stock, as I was also doing a 1" body lift.

Re: Any CJ people, I have a quick question

Plan on at least half of the bolts being rusted and not coming out. I put a fiberglass tub on my '79 CJ and in the course of removing bolts only 3 of them unscrewed. The rest either broke off or spun in the plates. Just a little forewarning. Good luck.

Re: Any CJ people, I have a quick question

Here's what I did; take a shoe box turn it bottom side up and punch eleven holes in it, 2 rows,5 on each side and one in between the top row for the front bolt. As you remove each bolt, place it in it's respective place in the box (think of the box as your tub). This keeps me straight as to which one went where. Then get the size and lenght of each one, and buy the same thing only 1" longer. Than compare the bolts w/ the ones in the box and replace.
(Sorry so long!)
