Re: I have to get the cage/role bar in!

I can't give any specific links, but if you rearch around i know theres alot on this subject.just a few comments-If you have a race car chassis dude in your area- they will have tube on hand, be able to bend it, and should be good at welding it. The pipe is cheap- like roughly $4/ft. If you have him make bends and you do fitting and jigging, and then him welding,you should be able to do it pretty economically.Your'e probably already aware of the Smittybilt kit available as an option.and you probably also know the importance of tying into frame and not just to body. Just a couple thoughts. Marc in MN

Right after this was originally posted there was a lenghty discussion about how to build a roll cage if you do a search and find that thread it should help you out a lot.

There was two lengthy ones on cages about that roll, and a few more at the end of June when I rolled my CJ5, the pictures seemed to get people interested in their safety.

Re: I have to get the cage/role bar in!

There are a couple of great sources out there. Around here, PBM has done some great stuff, Rice701 just finished a nice Smittybuilt front hoop and add ons on a standard cj-7 bar. I am in the final stages of a Smittybuilt add on to a YJ family cage in a CJ-7.

Most bang for the buck would be a weld in front hoop with additional spreaders, supplimental tubing for rear spreader, dash-bar, and bars along door-sills.

Cost breakdown:
Late model YJ cage with rear hoops $150
Smittybuilt front hoop and 2 spreaders $110
2 extra spreaders $20
Supplimental tube $35
Hole Saw $10
Gussets (Summit 12 pack) $13
==============
Total: $338 Not bad for a full 6 point cage

Note: frame tie ins would be extra, but not much more

'83 CJ-7 nothing original but the tub and axle tubes
