Engine Control Module

Can anyone help me locate a Engine Control Module also know as a Powertrain Control Module for a '91 Jeep Wrangler? My poor ride has been out of commission for 3 months while I've searched high and low for this part. The dealer want $750 for a new one and I'm bout ready to break down and pay it. Napa offers the part for $220, but they are out of stock. The dealer part number is 56027432. The part is located on the firewall just behind the windshield washer resivour. The engine is a 2.5L 4 Cylinder. Any help locating this part used would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Jeff

Re: Engine Control Module

i have one that came out of a 91, and another that is in an 87. both had the 2.5.. i dont know if either one is any good, or what number they are. the 91 had a five speed, and may be different than the auto. where are you located? if you are close by you can try them and see if either one works. if not i would keep looking. there are places that refurbish ECM's. you might try a search for that.

I am located in Madison, WI. I just came across one online for $225. My 91 is a 5 speed. How much do you want for the 91 box?

if you lived down here in florida, i'd let you have it for cheap, if its any good. i would hate to ship it up to you, only to find out its no good. if i were you, i would pursue something close to home.

Re: Engine Control Module

OK, I'll probably go for the one I found online. More than I was hoping to pay, but loads better than the dealer giving it to me from behind. Thanks for your help!

That's 100 bucks better than what I could find... I'll give them a call tomorrow. Thanks again!
