Cracked Muffler.

Anybody see a problem with having a cracked muffler?
It is just a little one, about 1 inch long, and penetrates through the metal.

I was going to replace it, but I thought it, "hey, if its going to get more trail damage, why worry about it?"

Ay opinions?

Re: Cracked Muffler.

Wow, a benefit... it lets all the moisture out of the muffler when you're parked and so it should slow down the rust. Just drill a little hole (1/16")at each end of the crack so it dosen't get bigger.

Ok.. Good Idea Leve.

You see any problems with the "set-up" as far as smoging?

Re: Cracked Muffler.

If there is a visual inspection of the exhaust system the inspector may very well dislike a rupture in the muffler. However, it should not affect the smog controls which are well before the ehxaust enters the muffler.
