Where can I get some...

I need gear marking compound. Where can I find it? Pep-boys and autozone didn't know what it was. NAPA tried selling me Prussian blue and that didn't work as good as the gear compound. I just want to check because I installed a new locker and it messed up my preload a bit. It runs fine, but when I change the oil, I want to check.

Thanks
Paulee

Re: Where can I get some...

The gearman I learned from used, red synthetic marine grease, or white grease.

Any driveline shop would probably sell you a little for couple buck also.

Re: Where can I get some...

Thanks H8, I'll get some marine grease and try it. I'll also check out some shops.... Probably the same shops I laughed at when they quoted me $700 per axles to set up gears!!!!

Re: Where can I get some...

Yeah Ive gotten spoiled here. I have a friend in a rival club that owns a Differential shop, a few miles from my job site. He sets up my gears for cheaper than it costs me for set up kits. He often has used gear sets in the shop. And he does outstanding work. I do have to kiss up a little and tell him how great their club is,...I guess its worth it.
