I got a free engine

This guy down the street with a commando is planning on swapping in a vortec v6 and he just gave me his 225 that was in it. Its all there and in rebuildable condition. The crank is bad on two cylinders but the rest of it is in great shape. Free is a great price for extra parts and possibly a new engine.

Re: I got a free engine

Yes, free is great. When I rebuilt a 258 for my Jeep I used a motor a friend had given me, so I was able to drive the Jeep until the new motor was ready. Then, after pulling the old 258 I passed that one along, gave it to another friend who is still using it after putting in a new timing chain and some seals.

Re: I got a free engine

In the spirit of giving, I have a free 258 for anyone who wants to come get it. I actually just listed it for $75 on the free classifieds, but mention you saw it in the forum and its yours for free. Its out of an 82 CJ7 (california). It has 170,000 miles on it. It ran fine with no smoke, or knocks until a lifter went on the #2 cylinder. Comes with intake, exhausst, distributor and various brackets and hoses. I live in Castro Valley, CA (San Francisco bay area)
