filling the shift motor housing with oil (YJ 4wd)

I just got through draining the front differential and shift motor housing of oil. If I just replace the front differential cover and begin filling it until it pours back out of the plug hole, will the oil manage to get into the shift motor housing also, or will I have to fill both of them up separately? Filling the front differential is no problem, I just need to figure out how to get the oil back into the shift motor housing. (By the way, does the shift motor take the same gear oil as the differentials?)
