Re: Jeep Eagle Transmission?

Did you say 6-speed? As in really a 6 speed and not just a shift knob? If so it sounds like something I have to start looking for.

Re: Jeep Eagle Transmission?

I've had two of those little Eagle hatchback SX4's. Sweet little cars...but a little ugly.
The first one was an 82 Sport model that had a vacuum switch to lock in the front axle. That thing was almost undriveable in 2wd...that 258 put out so much power for the little car that you ALWAYS spun the tires in 2wd...without trying. i think it only had a 5 speed manual trans.

The other one was an 81 and it was all wheel drive. It had a 4speed manual if I remember correctly. Both had the 258 I6.

I just realized I really didn't contribute any useful info to this post...sorry, just remembering my old cars. I wish I still had at least one of them.

I remember seeing one of those when i was 16. It was like a 4wd amc spirit, right? This one I saw rode on like 31" tires. I thought it was the MEANEST chevette I ever saw! Brendan

Re: Jeep Eagle Transmission?

Thats a cool chart Mel, but according to that AMC (jeep) never put a T-18 in any of their vehicles.

Re: Jeep Eagle Transmission?

hmmmmmmmmm, I didn't read the whole thing, just found the link about 5 minutes before my post. What I was interested in was the info. on the 904/999/727 auto trannies. I think I may need a new torque convertor, and B&M makes an upgraded one for a 727... according to the chart, the innards of all those trannies are the same. I guess I will know better when I call B&M on Monday.

Re: Jeep Eagle Transmission?

LOL Mel. I wasn't picking at it. I just noticed it was missing the king daddy of jeep trannys. I just thought it was kinda weird.
