engine conversion

I have a 1990 YJ with a 4 cylinder engine and I was wondering if the conversion to a 4.0 v6 is hard to fit. It is a 5 speed manual. I hear that it isnt from some people then it is from others. I need help!

Re: engine conversion

A 4.0L V6 might be hard (they don't mak'em!) ok Ok!
As far as engine swaps go, the 4.0L I-6 swap should be pretty easy. Thats not to say its not a lot of work, and doing your homework before hand will save you a lot of grief in the long run.

Search the archives for 4.0L swaps. I know there are some folks here that had 2.5L and swapped them out.

Re: engine conversion

Ford does make a 4.0 V6 in case that is what you are really talking about. But if you are speaking of the 4.0 I6 from another Jeep it will fit but your AX-5 tranny probably won't live long bolted to a 4.0.
