how do I wire toggle wipers?

Im going to put a toggle switch in place of my wiper switch. The original switch is very stiff and doesnt always turn. I have the 3 wire setup with a ground and two power wires going from the switch to the wiper box. Im pretty sure there is only one wire going into the switch. I need to know which wires to hook up to a toggle switch. Do I need to have all 3 somehow? Thanks.

Re: how do I wire toggle wipers?

Not sure about '69, but usually there is not a ground wire. It picks up the ground through the wiper motor case. 3 wires would indicate a two-speed motor. One wire for high speed, one wire for low speed and one which is only hot with the switch off so that the wipers can automatically park themselves.

Do your wipers have 2 speeds?

Its hard to tell if it has two speeds cause the switch is never working right. Im pretty sure it does have two though. How do I know which wire does what? There is a black a green and a red wire.

How about one switch for hi-speed, one for low speed? That would be nice, just flip the switch on your way into a bog.

Just a guess, but I think ours should be close. The hot(+) is fed continuously, with the ground being broken by the switch.
