Dana 44 narrow track into a 80\'s cj-7

Just sold dana 44 and 30 to a friend of mine and it turns out the perches are too narrow for his cj-7 so I guess they are narrow track. can they be installed into the cj-7 by just moving the spring perches? any info would be appriciated.

97 TJ 31's and mostly stock but seeing what I can do about that..

What are they out of? As far as i know all '76-'86 CJ frames are the same width. Were they out of an older CJ5? That could be the reason. i will measure my wife's '84 and my '76 if you want me too.

The frames on the cj7's never changed width. So something else is up. Give us more info on what they came out of.

Can someone please bring me a hammer my 33's just ate my fender again. Damn i need more lift.

Sounds like its out of a CJ5. I did a similar swap a couple years back.. If it is out of a CJ5, putting new perches on in the correct location will take care of it...

The front should line up perfectly. If the rear came out of a CJ5, then yes the perches would be off. The last year of the 44 in a CJ5 was '75 and in '76 the frames got to be wider in the rear. Welding new perches on is all that's necessary. Perch locations did not change when going from narrow track to wide track, just the overall width of the axle.
