T18 clutch question

Hey all,
I just put a CJ T-18/Dana20 combo in my 258 powered 89 YJ. I had to make some clutch mods when I ditched the BA10/5 by adding a slave cylinder to push the clutch fork but I left the rest stock, ie. pressure plate, disk, throwout bearing. Now I think the throwout bearing isn't even contacting the pressure plate so do I need to get a CJ clutch package or is there something else I can do. I would like to NOT pull that 300lb mess again but if I have to then I will. Please help!!

Re: T18 clutch question

if your throwout bearing isnt making contact.. then adjust your slave cylinder rod... it might not have enough throw.. i would lengthen it.. before pulling that heavy a$$ crap out... ..

Re: T18 clutch question

whats the throwout fork look like? not up on those yj stock things.. but is it seated properly.. can you move it by hand.. till it contacts the pressure plate? if all of it went onto the input shaft correctly.. id still say its in your throw..

Re: T18 clutch question

The throw fork was the one that came from the T-18 because my Peugitijcrapghdfot...caugh,caugh...Peugot had an internal slave cylinder that looked like a gay accordian...she moves fine by hand thru the full range of motion but nada happens. Maybe I'll get a borescope from the squadron and make sure everything is seated correctly and see if maybe bending the fork isn't an option...

Re: T18 clutch question

ok.. and what throw out bearing are you using? one from a cj? is that seated on the throw out fork? you should be able to move the fork till it hits the pressure plate.. you shouldnt be able to move it any further.. (too much pressure)... did the disc go onto the input the shaft correctly? was it the size of your pressure plate?
there should be a spring holding that throwout fork into the bell housing.. on a steel ball.... that it pivots on...

Re: T18 clutch question

pat, the ball is in there, I siliconed it in myself (grease wasnt working to hold it) everything looks good. I think he needs a different pressure plate..thicker....one from a cj...
