Re: new years wheeling

Damn it, I just got mud all over my keyboard just from looking at the pictures.
How bad was the backlash when the cable let go?
Did you have the cable weighted down?

For the areas you guys are wheeling, have you considered the plasma rope? 17,500 lbs versus 11,500 lbs.
I am certainly going to plasma for my replacement wire soon.

Re: new years wheeling

jeff, me and pat were talkling about te plasma rope that night. I have a concern about the sand and mud getting in the fabric of the rope and degrading it... we also make some really tough pulls with the winches.. straight winching for the entire length of the cable sometimes.. I have heard that the rope doesnt dissipate heat as well as the cable.... one lat reason we havent changed...... since we are air wing type jarheads... we can get aircraft cable...er...really cheap...
jeepgod needs a better winch.. the 8k isnt doing it anymore.. I just swapped a hydroboost brake set up and a rock ram set up for his winch.. its a good winch for the wifes jeep when i put new cable on it... he's getting something BIGGER

Re: new years wheeling

the recoil wasnt bad.. i had the hook facing up.. so that part went down.. and the cable was really close to the ground.. so it kinda went straight back.. under the jeep.. and got tangled up in my engine fan.. i have a carhart jacket i throw onto it.. i was outside of the jeep..

Re: new years wheeling

I love muddy jeeps, it's the one true way to tell if some one wheels thier jeep, well i guess rock rash counts for you westerners. Looks like fun. Where's your swampers? Looks like they might have helped a little.

Re: new years wheeling

the swampers arent mounted right now.. seems silly to whel bfg's when i have new 38 tsl/sx, but the fact is i need to put some serious road miles on the jeep in the next couple months
