Lock Right in frontend of YJ?

Is there any serious problems with putting a lock right in the front of a YJ without putting hubs on?

Re: Lock Right in frontend of YJ?

Yeah, turning on cement will be a huge issue...this is my main complaint about the YJ - a hub conversion costs a good 900 or so...an ARB costs maybe 600...theres no cheap way around other than swapping out the axle, which means probably swapping out the Tcase...OY...Jeeps, Im telling ya

Re: Lock Right in frontend of YJ?

In a YJ there is no problems at all since one side is disconnected when not in 4wheel. I ran a YJ with a lock-right in the front for 6 years with no problems. Most of the miles were on the street. Even a few towing a 19ft boat. The only problem I can contribute to the locker was the sleeve on the front shaft(vaccum actuated by fork) broke and was then upgraded to the heavy duty without any other problems.

As long as you have the axle disconnect there are no problems with turning. If you don't have the disconnect I don't know for sure, but I have never talked to anyone who has had any steering problems. Putting any locker in a YJ of TJ Dana 30 front will cause the driveshaft to turn at all times and this may or may not cause a vibration.

I run a LockRight in the front of my 94 YJ with no problems at all. The only drawback is that the front driveshaft turns all the time.
