Thanks JEEPN - Gravity brake bleeding

I did the gravity thing on the front calipers today and I could not belive the air bubbles I saw comming out of both sides! My brakes are rock hard, I can even lock up my tires if I try. Unbeatable technique. Thanks to JEEPN's write up on bleeding brakes.

Re: Thanks JEEPN - Gravity brake bleeding

double thanks JEEPN!! I have been screwing around with my brakes for about a month now. The gravity bleeding thing solved all my problems. I bled them about 10 times using different methods, and I still had massive amounts of air coming out! Thanks again.

Re: Thanks JEEPN - Gravity brake bleeding

Glad I could help. The sharing of information on this BBS is what makes it great.

I "discovered" the gravity bleeding thing when I noticed the POS aftermarket calipers didn't have the bleeder at the top. I fiddled around with a 1x4 in the caliper at first, until common sense smacked me in the head (or was it the wife???). Sometimes when you're by yourself you can think of some pretty original ways to get the job done. Mine are a little easier to bleed than most, I just unscrew the bleeder and set the caliper on the fender, but you need some insanely long brake lines to do this (mine are 37", WAAAAAAY too long).
